Nickel City: A neighborhood bar in Texas with its roots in Buffalo, New York.

Nickel City had some serious shoes to fill, moving into the space of one of Austin’s most beloved neighborhood bars – the historic Longbranch Inn.

Inspired by New York and mid-west bar culture, we helped owner Travis Tober create a casual, no frills bar serving cold beer & mixed drinks. It was just what the city needed, as folks grew tired of fancy whiskey bars and high concept pick-up joints. Nothing too precious, just simple, easy and fun.

I supported the creation of the original branding, including a logo, menus, merchandise, illustrations, and a website.

From there, I worked directly with Tober and general managers to provide weekly menus, merch, posters, and support for the second and third locations across Texas.
