Ingress: A Worldwide Territory Control AR Game.
“Ingress is more than just a game. Join one of two Factions locked in a hidden conflict that’s taking place all around you. The world is not what it seems.”
We followed a strict design process that could only be compared to a method actor unwilling to break character on set. Using the persona of a covert and autonomous entity known in the Ingress world as the National Intelligence Agency (NIA...*ehem* Niantic), we developed a longstanding series of seasonal brand systems for the game narrative to build from. Each season included a logo, merchandise, in-app medals, live events, and more.
We worked collaboratively directly with in-house marketing, game writers and developers, event ops, and management to create one of the original and longest lasting real-world mobile games.
To celebrate their 10th anniversary, I worked with the team to develop a year long branded series of limited edition merch drops featuring trading cards, enamel pins, patches, coins, and other fan-favorite collectibles.
We spared no expense, and worked directly with several vendors to produce this premium collection of commemorative merchandise.
The merch kits sold out in less than a day.
